Why choose Bend for a corporate retreat?

Bend sits on the Deschutes River at the edge of the Cascades, with more than 300 days of sunshine a year and Mt. Bachelor on the horizon. Teams can raft the river, ride through juniper country, explore lava tubes and end the night at one of the town’s craft breweries. Resorts range from a hilltop ranch in Powell Butte to Sunriver, 15 miles south, and Redmond Municipal Airport (RDM) is 20 to 45 minutes from each.

As a remote team, it's important for us to create an intentional space for us to come together and connect as more than co-workers. We believe there's no better way to do that than in nature and Wilder Retreats helped us do just that.

We've worked with Wilder Retreats on over three retreats now and it's been the best experience ever. They have great locations in their pocket, work closely with you on budget and details, and are always a step ahead with planning. I don't know how we'd execute on our team offsites without them!

Wilder Retreats ran our firmwide offsite this year. It was clear we had a true partner in Wilder. From the earliest planning chats through the final goodbye for the airport, our Wilder Retreats team was responsive, organized, and upbeat, so much so that our own staff who worked with them to plan could simply enjoy the retreat instead of juggling logistics. The result was a relaxed, engaging few days where people could focus on connecting with colleagues and re‑energizing for the year ahead. We came away feeling both cared for and confident that we’d choose Wilder Retreats again without hesitation!

BEND CORPORATE RETREAT

Frequently asked questions

What makes Bend a good fit for a corporate retreat?

Bend puts rivers, mountains and high desert within minutes of each other, and the town itself is walkable, relaxed and full of good food and craft beer. It gets more than 300 sunny days a year, so outdoor sessions and activities are easy to plan.

Should we stay at Brasada Ranch, Sunriver Resort or Tetherow?

It depends on your group. Brasada Ranch has 190 rooms and cabins on a hilltop in Powell Butte, with more than 12,000 square feet of meeting space and wide views of the Cascades. Sunriver Resort has 245 rooms and suites along the Deschutes River and more than 30,000 square feet of meeting space, so it suits the largest teams. Tetherow has 50 rooms on 700 acres at the edge of the Deschutes National Forest, 10 minutes from downtown Bend, a strong fit for smaller groups. We’ll recommend the best fit for your group size, goals and budget.

Is Sunriver part of a Bend retreat?

Yes. Sunriver is about 15 miles south of Bend, closer to Mt. Bachelor and the Lava Lands. Many teams stay there and come into Bend for dinner, or split the trip between the two.

What is the best time of year for a retreat in Bend?

June through September brings warm, dry days and the best river and trail season. Fall has cool mornings and quieter trails. Winter brings skiing at Mt. Bachelor and snowshoeing, and spring is mild with occasional snow at higher elevations.

How do we get to Bend?

Most groups fly into Redmond Municipal Airport (RDM), about 20 minutes from Brasada Ranch and about 30 to 45 minutes from Bend and Sunriver, with direct flights from several West Coast hubs. Portland (PDX) is about 3.5 hours by car. Wilder coordinates group transfers from either airport.

What other experiences can Wilder organize in Bend?

Beyond the featured experiences, teams can paddleboard the Deschutes through town, hike at Smith Rock State Park, tour a local brewery, visit the High Desert Museum or ski and snowshoe at Mt. Bachelor in winter. Wilder builds the itinerary around your team’s interests and goals.

Can Bend host groups of more than 100 people?

Yes. Sunriver Resort has an 18,000-square-foot ballroom and room for large groups, and Brasada Ranch can host about 100 comfortably. We’ll plan the room blocks, meeting space and transfers so it runs smoothly.

Can we hold meetings outdoors?

Yes. We use lawns, patios and fire pits with mountain views for sessions when the weather allows, and time outside tends to spark better conversations than a windowless ballroom.

Are activities suitable for all fitness levels?

Yes. Rafting trips come in calmer and more exciting sections, trails range from flat paved paths to steeper climbs, and the Lava Lands tour needs no hiking experience. We plan every day so the whole team can join in.

What should we pack for a Bend retreat?

Bring layers, since high-desert mornings and evenings are cool even in summer. Add sunscreen, sturdy shoes, a water bottle and a warm jacket for the evening fire. We send every team a packing list before the trip.

What ROI can companies expect from a Wilder retreat in Bend?

Wilder handles every logistical detail, saving internal teams an average of 100+ planning hours. We build each itinerary around your business goals, so the sessions, activities and downtime all support what you want your team to leave with.
