Cartagena combines a walkable colonial Old City, a strong food scene and Caribbean islands a short boat ride away. It is warm year-round, easy to reach from the US and offers everything from heritage hotels to full-service beach resorts.
It depends on your group and goals. Sofitel Barú Calablanca has 187 rooms on a quiet beach on Isla Barú, about 1 hour 20 minutes from the airport, with a ballroom for up to 220 people. It suits teams who want a true escape. Sofitel Legend Santa Clara has 126 rooms in a 1621 convent inside the walled city, with more than 6,000 square feet of meeting space and the Old City at the door. The Hyatt Regency has 261 rooms in Bocagrande with more than 13,000 square feet of sea-view event space, a strong fit for larger groups on a moderate budget. We’ll recommend the best fit for your group size, goals and budget.
December through April is the dry season, with steady breezes and the most sun. Cartagena is hot all year, so we plan active sessions for mornings and late afternoons. September through November brings more afternoon rain and better rates.
Fly into Rafael Núñez International Airport (CTG), which has nonstop flights from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, New York and Atlanta, among other US cities. The Old City and Bocagrande are about 15 minutes away. Isla Barú is about 1 hour 20 minutes by road, or we can arrange a boat transfer.
Yes. Many groups add a night on the Rosario Islands or Isla Barú, and others pair Cartagena with Medellín or the coffee region, both a short domestic flight away.

Yes. The Hyatt Regency’s ballroom and sea-view terraces work well for larger groups, and the city’s convention center is steps from the Old City. We can also split a group across two nearby hotels and bring everyone together for sessions and dinners.

Yes. The cooking challenge, street art workshop and plankton tour need no experience, and snorkeling in the Rosario Islands is done in calm, shallow water with guides. There is always an easier option.
