Teams can base in Reykjavik for restaurants and nightlife, or head out to lodges on the edge of lava fields and national parks. Frequently asked questions
Iceland packs glaciers, volcanoes, waterfalls and hot springs into short drives from Reykjavik. It is about five hours from the US East Coast and only four or five hours ahead, and the landscape gives teams something to talk about long after they are home.
It depends on your group and goals. ION Adventure Hotel has 45 rooms on the lava fields near Þingvellir, about 40 minutes from Reykjavik, with a meeting room for up to 80 and a great spot for northern lights. It suits groups of about 40. The Reykjavik EDITION has 253 rooms on the Old Harbour next to Harpa, with more than 5,000 square feet of meeting space, best for groups of 100 who want the city and day trips out. Hótel Búðir has 28 rooms on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, just over two hours from Reykjavik, and works best as a full buyout for about 30 people. We’ll recommend the best fit for your group size, goals and budget.
June through August brings nearly 24 hours of daylight and every activity is open. September through March is northern lights season, and ice caves are open from about November to March. May and September offer fewer crowds and a good mix of both.
Fly into Keflavík International Airport (KEF), which has nonstop flights from many US cities, including New York, Boston, Washington, Chicago, Denver and Seattle. Reykjavik is about 45 minutes away, ION about 75 minutes and Hótel Búðir about 2 hours 45 minutes.
Yes. Many groups add a night in Reykjavik to a countryside stay, or pair the retreat with a stop in London, Paris or Copenhagen, all about three hours from Keflavík.
Beyond the experiences above, we can arrange snorkeling in the Silfra fissure, Icelandic horse riding, whale watching from Reykjavik, super-jeep tours to the highlands, lava tunnel caving and an evening at Sky Lagoon.
Yes. The Reykjavik EDITION and Harpa concert hall next door can host larger groups, and we can split a team across nearby Reykjavik hotels for sessions and dinners together. ION and Hótel Búðir are best for smaller groups on a full buyout.
Yes, with a plan. Summer days are long and mild, and we can hold sessions on a lava field or beside a waterfall, but weather changes fast, so we always book an indoor backup.
Yes. The cooking class and waterfall walks need no experience, the volcano descent starts with an easy hike of about 45 minutes each way, and glacier guides fit everyone with crampons and coach first-timers. There is always an easier option.
Layers, a waterproof shell, a warm hat and gloves, sturdy hiking boots and a swimsuit for the hot springs. Summer or winter, pack for wind and rain.
