It depends on your group and goals. Rio Perdido has 38 bungalows in a dry-forest canyon with a thermal river, a strong fit for teams of up to about 40 that want adventure and wellness. JW Marriott Costa Elena is the brand’s first all-inclusive, with 415 rooms and more than 10,000 square feet of event space, best for large groups that want simple, predictable pricing. Waldorf Astoria Punta Cacique has 188 rooms on the beach, about 25 minutes from the airport, ideal for a polished five-star retreat. We’ll recommend the best fit for your group size, goals and budget.
December through April is the dry season in Guanacaste, with sunny days and little rain. May through November is the green season, with lush landscapes, afternoon showers and lower rates.
Fly into Liberia International (LIR). Waldorf Astoria is about 25 minutes away, Rio Perdido about an hour and JW Marriott Costa Elena about an hour. US travelers need a passport valid for the length of the stay. We handle all ground transfers.
Yes. Rio Perdido and the coast are about an hour apart, so many teams spend a night or two in the forest and the rest on the Pacific.
Beyond the featured experiences, teams can raft the Río Tenorio, sail a catamaran at sunset, learn jícara gourd carving from local artisans, hike to waterfalls in Rincón de la Vieja National Park or soak in natural hot springs.
Yes. JW Marriott Costa Elena and Waldorf Astoria can each host several hundred people, with ballrooms and event lawns.
Yes. We use open-air pavilions, terraces and event lawns for sessions and receptions, with a covered or indoor space held as a backup.
Yes. The coffee and chocolate tasting and wildlife safari need no experience, and surf instructors and zip line guides coach first-timers. There is always an easier option.
Bring light, breathable clothes, a swimsuit, sunscreen, bug spray, a hat and closed-toe shoes for hikes. Add a light rain jacket in the green season.
