The Challenge
What Was Getting in the Way
Clariti is a fast-growing tech company that had recently gone fully remote, with employees across Canada and the United States. Leadership needed time away from the daily demands of the business to focus on strategy for the year ahead.
Two earlier planning agencies had let them down. The first quoted unrealistically low costs that led to last-minute budget problems. The second missed its timeline and then pulled out entirely. Leadership ended up carrying the logistics themselves, and the retreat also had to work for people joining virtually.
“Wilder quickly earned our trust by being upfront about our timeline and budget, which was refreshing after our experiences with previous planners. [The Wilder team’s] calm, hands-on approach made the whole process feel seamless.”
Megan MacQuarrie, Sr. Director, People & Talent, Clariti
The Approach
What We Did Together
Wilder was upfront about the constraints from the first call and recommended moving the retreat from January to April so it could be done well. The Wilder team stayed responsive throughout, which helped rebuild the trust earlier planners had lost.
We reset the budget with detailed cost breakdowns that Clariti’s team could take to leadership, and helped choose a venue with formal meeting space plus relaxed areas for spontaneous conversation. Wilder built an hour-by-hour agenda that balanced focused work with downtime, and set up the A/V so virtual attendees felt included.
We also coordinated travel for a widely spread team, including early arrivals and extended stays, and planned activities that worked for a range of physical abilities.
The Outcome
What Changed
With the logistics off their plate, Clariti’s leaders could focus on strategy and their team. Everyone returned home with a renewed sense of purpose and a detailed action plan, and Clariti is already planning future retreats with Wilder.
