Why choose Atlanta for a corporate retreat

Atlanta is the easiest place in the country to fly into, with nonstop service from almost every major city. From Hartsfield-Jackson, teams can stay in Buckhead with the city at their door, drive 90 minutes to a Ritz-Carlton on the shores of Lake Oconee, or head two hours northwest to a resort on the rim of Lookout Mountain above Cloudland Canyon. One airport opens three very different retreats.

As a remote team, it's important for us to create an intentional space for us to come together and connect as more than co-workers. We believe there's no better way to do that than in nature and Wilder Retreats helped us do just that.

We've worked with Wilder Retreats on over three retreats now and it's been the best experience ever. They have great locations in their pocket, work closely with you on budget and details, and are always a step ahead with planning. I don't know how we'd execute on our team offsites without them!

Wilder Retreats ran our firmwide offsite this year. It was clear we had a true partner in Wilder. From the earliest planning chats through the final goodbye for the airport, our Wilder Retreats team was responsive, organized, and upbeat, so much so that our own staff who worked with them to plan could simply enjoy the retreat instead of juggling logistics. The result was a relaxed, engaging few days where people could focus on connecting with colleagues and re‑energizing for the year ahead. We came away feeling both cared for and confident that we’d choose Wilder Retreats again without hesitation!

Atlanta retreat questions

Frequently asked questions

What makes Atlanta a good fit for a corporate retreat?

Atlanta has the busiest airport in the world, so most teams can fly in nonstop. Within two hours of the airport you can choose a city hotel in Buckhead, a lakeside resort in the Georgia countryside or a mountaintop retreat above Cloudland Canyon.

Should we stay at Cloudland, The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds or Grand Hyatt Buckhead?

It depends on your group and goals. Cloudland at McLemore has 245 rooms on the rim of Lookout Mountain, a strong fit for teams that want hiking, canyon views and a sense of escape. The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds has 257 rooms on Lake Oconee with more than 40,000 square feet of event space, golf and boating, best for a polished resort retreat. Grand Hyatt Buckhead has 459 rooms, a 9,700-square-foot ballroom and a Japanese garden, ideal when travel time matters most. We’ll recommend the best fit for your group size, goals and budget.

What is the best time of year for a retreat near Atlanta?

March through May and late September through early November are the most comfortable, with spring blooms and fall color. Summer is hot and humid but good for time on Lake Oconee. Winter is mild and works well for city retreats.

How do we get there?

Fly into Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International (ATL). Grand Hyatt Buckhead is about 30 minutes away, The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds is about 90 minutes and Cloudland at McLemore is about two hours. Cloudland is also about 45 minutes from Chattanooga (CHA). We handle all ground transfers.

Can we combine the city with the mountains or the lake?

Yes. Some teams spend a night in Buckhead before or after time at Lake Oconee or Cloudland, which makes it easy to add client dinners or an office visit.

What other experiences can Wilder organize near Atlanta?

Beyond the featured experiences, teams can hang glide off Lookout Mountain, boat and fish on Lake Oconee, play championship golf, tour the Atlanta BeltLine, or take a Southern cooking class.

Can these venues host groups of more than 100 people?

Yes. All three can host several hundred people. Grand Hyatt Buckhead and The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds each have large ballrooms, and Cloudland has a 5,400-square-foot ballroom with mountain views.

Can we hold meetings outdoors?

Yes. We use lakeside lawns, mountaintop terraces and the Grand Hyatt’s garden for sessions and breakouts, with an indoor room held as a backup.

Are activities suitable for all fitness levels?

Yes. The painting class, yoga and lake time need no experience. Hikes and trail rides are guided and paced for the group, with easier options available.

What should we pack for an Atlanta-area retreat?

Bring light layers and comfortable walking shoes, plus a rain jacket. Mountain evenings at Cloudland are cooler than the city, so add a warm layer in spring and fall.

How much does a corporate retreat near Atlanta cost?

Most retreats run $750 to $1,500 per person per day on average, depending on the venue, season, group size and experiences. The sample pricing above shows what three nights could cost at each venue, and we’ll build a custom proposal for your team.
