Why choose the Pocono Mountains for a corporate retreat

The Poconos give East Coast teams a real mountain escape without a flight. The region covers 2,400 square miles of forest, 150 lakes and the Delaware Water Gap, and our venues sit about two hours from Manhattan and Philadelphia. Teams can meet in a stone lodge in the morning, paddle a quiet lake in the afternoon and finish the day around a fire, then drive home without losing a day to travel.

Why teams keep booking with Wilder

As a remote team, it's important for us to create an intentional space for us to come together and connect as more than co-workers. We believe there's no better way to do that than in nature and Wilder Retreats helped us do just that.

We've worked with Wilder Retreats on over three retreats now and it's been the best experience ever. They have great locations in their pocket, work closely with you on budget and details, and are always a step ahead with planning. I don't know how we'd execute on our team offsites without them!

Wilder Retreats ran our firmwide offsite this year. It was clear we had a true partner in Wilder. From the earliest planning chats through the final goodbye for the airport, our Wilder Retreats team was responsive, organized, and upbeat, so much so that our own staff who worked with them to plan could simply enjoy the retreat instead of juggling logistics. The result was a relaxed, engaging few days where people could focus on connecting with colleagues and re‑energizing for the year ahead. We came away feeling both cared for and confident that we’d choose Wilder Retreats again without hesitation!

Wilder Retreats presented, organized and executed a company retreat in Big Sky for us. The details were communicated in a timely manner both prior to the event and during. Our group had an amazing time! I would highly recommend Wilder Retreats.

Pocono Mountains retreat questions

Frequently asked questions

What makes the Pocono Mountains a good fit for a corporate retreat?

You get forests, lakes and historic lodges about two hours from New York City and Philadelphia, so most teams can arrive by coach. Venues range from an adults-only spa for a leadership team to a private lakeside campus for several hundred people.

Should we stay at Skytop Lodge, The Lodge at Woodloch or The Acres?

It depends on your group and goals. Skytop Lodge is a 1928 stone lodge on 5,500 acres with about 190 rooms, golf, a private lake and a 4,128 sq ft ballroom, a strong fit for 30 to 300 people. The Lodge at Woodloch is an adults-only destination spa with 59 rooms, best for an executive team of about 14. The Acres is a private 400-acre lakeside property in Equinunk that you book exclusively, built for camp-style retreats and kickoffs from 50 to 500+.

What is the best time of year for a retreat in the Poconos?

June through August is lake season. Mid-September through October brings fall color, with peak foliage in early to mid-October. Winter adds skiing, tubing and skating at Skytop, and spring brings waterfalls and good value.

How do we get to the Poconos?

Most groups travel by coach from New York City or Philadelphia, about 2 to 3 hours. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International (AVP) is about an hour from Woodloch and Skytop, and Newark (EWR) is about 2 to 2.5 hours away. We handle all ground transportation.

Can the Poconos host groups of more than 100 people?

Yes. Skytop Lodge hosts up to about 300 in its largest ballroom, and The Acres sleeps groups of 500+ on site.

Can we hold meetings outdoors?

Yes. Skytop has gardens, lawns and lakeside spaces, and The Acres has a covered pavilion, fields and a lakefront. We always hold an indoor room as a backup.

What other experiences can Wilder organize in the Poconos?

Teams can cruise or paddle Lake Wallenpaupack, hike past eight waterfalls at Bushkill Falls, raft the Delaware Water Gap, fly fish the Lackawaxen River or zipline at Camelback.

Are activities suitable for all fitness levels?

Yes. Every experience has an easier option, and the apiary tour, kayaking and archery need no experience.

What should we pack for a Poconos retreat?

Layers, comfortable walking shoes and a rain jacket. Add a warm jacket for evenings in spring and fall, and full winter gear from December through March.

How much does a Pocono Mountains corporate retreat cost?

Most retreats run $750 to $1,500 per person per day, depending on the venue, season, group size and experiences. The sample pricing above shows what three nights could cost at each venue, and we’ll build a custom proposal for your team.
