Why choose Portland for a corporate retreat?
Portland puts three very different settings within easy reach. The Columbia River Gorge is 45 minutes east, with waterfalls and forested cliffs. Willamette Valley wine country is 45 minutes south, and the Oregon coast is about two hours west. Portland International Airport (PDX) has direct flights from most major U.S. cities, and teams can pair a night in the city with a few days out in nature.

In their words
Why teams keep booking with Wilder

As a remote team, it's important for us to create an intentional space for us to come together and connect as more than co-workers. We believe there's no better way to do that than in nature and Wilder Retreats helped us do just that.
Chris ClarkCEO
We've worked with Wilder Retreats on over three retreats now and it's been the best experience ever. They have great locations in their pocket, work closely with you on budget and details, and are always a step ahead with planning. I don't know how we'd execute on our team offsites without them!
Britt CooperVP of Talent
Our time with Wilder Retreats in Yosemite was nothing short of magical. We explored, we laughed, and we grew together. It was a humbling reminder of the beauty and power of nature, and of the importance of fostering connections with those around us.
Lily BakourHead of Communications
Wilder Retreats ran our firmwide offsite this year. It was clear we had a true partner in Wilder. From the earliest planning chats through the final goodbye for the airport, our Wilder Retreats team was responsive, organized, and upbeat, so much so that our own staff who worked with them to plan could simply enjoy the retreat instead of juggling logistics. The result was a relaxed, engaging few days where people could focus on connecting with colleagues and re‑energizing for the year ahead. We came away feeling both cared for and confident that we’d choose Wilder Retreats again without hesitation!
Emma DysonChief of Staff
Wilder Retreats presented, organized and executed a company retreat in Big Sky for us. The details were communicated in a timely manner both prior to the event and during. Our group had an amazing time! I would highly recommend Wilder Retreats.

Frequently asked questions
Portland is easy to fly into and sits within two hours of the Columbia River Gorge, Oregon wine country and the Pacific coast. Teams can choose forests and waterfalls, vineyards or the ocean, and add a night in one of the country’s best food cities.
It depends on your group. Skamania Lodge sits on 175 acres in the Columbia River Gorge, with more than 250 rooms, treehouses and about 23,000 square feet of meeting space, so it suits the largest teams. The Allison Inn & Spa has 85 rooms on 35 acres in Willamette Valley wine country and 12,000 square feet of meeting space, a strong fit for mid-size groups. Headlands Coastal Lodge has 51 oceanfront rooms and cottages in Pacific City, best for small leadership teams of about 20. We’ll recommend the best fit for your group size, goals and budget.
July through September is dry, warm and the most reliable for outdoor plans. September and October bring harvest season in wine country. Spring is green, with the Gorge waterfalls at their fullest, and winter is mild and rainy, with cozy lodge settings and lower rates.
Most groups fly into Portland International Airport (PDX). Skamania Lodge is about 45 minutes east, The Allison is about 45 minutes to an hour south, and Headlands is about two hours west on the coast. Wilder coordinates group transfers for every leg.
Yes. Many teams spend a night in Portland for food carts, breweries and Powell’s Books, then head to the Gorge, wine country or the coast for the working part of the retreat.
Beyond the featured experiences, teams can hike to Multnomah Falls, taste Pinot Noir in the Willamette Valley, ride e-bikes on the Historic Columbia River Highway, climb the dunes at Cape Kiwanda or take a guided food tour in Portland. Wilder builds the itinerary around your team’s interests and goals.
Yes. Skamania Lodge can host groups of several hundred, with a ballroom of nearly 7,000 square feet. We’ll plan the room blocks, meeting space and transfers so it runs smoothly.
Yes. We use lawns, courtyards and forest pavilions for sessions when the weather allows, and time outside tends to spark better conversations than a windowless ballroom.
Yes. The aerial park has courses for beginners, rafting trips come in calmer and more exciting sections, and axe throwing needs no experience at all. We plan every day so the whole team can join in.
Bring layers and a rain jacket, even in summer, plus sturdy shoes for trails. The coast and Gorge can be windy and cool. We send every team a packing list before the trip.
Wilder handles every logistical detail, saving internal teams an average of 100+ planning hours. We build each itinerary around your business goals, so the sessions, activities and downtime all support what you want your team to leave with.
