Why choose Vancouver for a corporate retreat

Vancouver may be the most outdoor-friendly big city in North America. Teams can meet downtown, walk the seawall through Stanley Park at lunch and be on the water or a North Shore trail by afternoon. For a true escape, a short floatplane hop takes you to the wild west coast of Vancouver Island, where old-growth rainforest meets the Pacific. Vancouver International has nonstop flights from most major US cities.

As a remote team, it's important for us to create an intentional space for us to come together and connect as more than co-workers. We believe there's no better way to do that than in nature and Wilder Retreats helped us do just that.

We've worked with Wilder Retreats on over three retreats now and it's been the best experience ever. They have great locations in their pocket, work closely with you on budget and details, and are always a step ahead with planning. I don't know how we'd execute on our team offsites without them!

Wilder Retreats ran our firmwide offsite this year. It was clear we had a true partner in Wilder. From the earliest planning chats through the final goodbye for the airport, our Wilder Retreats team was responsive, organized, and upbeat, so much so that our own staff who worked with them to plan could simply enjoy the retreat instead of juggling logistics. The result was a relaxed, engaging few days where people could focus on connecting with colleagues and re‑energizing for the year ahead. We came away feeling both cared for and confident that we’d choose Wilder Retreats again without hesitation!

Vancouver retreat questions

Frequently asked questions

What makes Vancouver a good fit for a corporate retreat?

Vancouver puts ocean, rainforest and mountains minutes from a walkable downtown with great hotels and restaurants. It is easy to reach from most US cities, and Vancouver Island’s wild west coast is a short flight away for teams that want a true escape.

Should we stay at Rosewood Hotel Georgia, Sonora Resort or the Wickaninnish Inn?

It depends on your group and goals. Rosewood Hotel Georgia has 156 rooms in a restored 1920s landmark downtown, with a ballroom for up to 280, best for teams of 100 that want the city. Sonora Resort is an all-inclusive Relais & Châteaux lodge in the Discovery Islands, about 50 minutes from Vancouver by floatplane, with 88 rooms and space for groups of up to about 60. The Wickaninnish Inn in Tofino has 75 rooms on the edge of the Pacific, a strong fit for groups of up to about 40. We’ll recommend the best fit for your group size, goals and budget.

What is the best time of year for a retreat in Vancouver?

May through September is the driest and warmest, with long days on the water. Sonora Resort is open from spring through fall. Winter storm-watching season in Tofino, from November through February, is dramatic and cozy.

How do we get there?

Fly into Vancouver International (YVR). Rosewood Hotel Georgia is about 30 minutes away. For Tofino, take a short flight from Vancouver, about an hour. Sonora Resort is about 50 minutes by floatplane. US travelers need a valid passport. We handle all transfers.

Can we combine Vancouver and Vancouver Island?

Yes. Many teams spend a night or two downtown, then fly to Tofino or Sonora Resort for the rest of the retreat.

What other experiences can Wilder organize in Vancouver?

Beyond the featured experiences, teams can hike Grouse Mountain, cross the Capilano Suspension Bridge, kayak Deep Cove, whale-watch, surf in Tofino or storm-watch on the coast in winter.

Can Vancouver host groups of more than 100 people?

Yes. Rosewood Hotel Georgia can host groups of 100 or more, and the city has many larger hotels and private venues. The Vancouver Island lodges are best for smaller leadership groups.

Can we hold meetings outdoors?

Yes. In summer and early fall we use terraces, waterfront decks and forest settings for sessions and receptions, with an indoor room held as a backup.

Are activities suitable for all fitness levels?

Yes. The seaplane flight and orca watching need no experience, canoe guides coach first-time paddlers, and walks in Stanley Park are flat and easy. There is always an easier option.

What should we pack for a Vancouver retreat?

Bring layers and a good rain jacket, since coastal weather changes quickly, plus comfortable walking shoes. For Tofino or Sonora, add waterproof boots and a warm layer. US travelers need a passport.

How much does a Vancouver corporate retreat cost?

Most retreats run $750 to $1,500 per person per day on average, depending on the venue, season, group size and experiences. The sample pricing above shows what three nights could cost at each venue in US dollars, and we’ll build a custom proposal for your team.
