Why choose Zion National Park for a corporate retreat?

Zion National Park sits in southwest Utah, where the Virgin River has cut a canyon more than 2,000 feet deep. Many teams stay in Springdale, the small town at the park’s south entrance, and walk or ride the free shuttle into the canyon each morning. Most groups fly into Las Vegas (LAS), about 2.5 hours away, and St. George Regional Airport (SGU) is about an hour away.

As a remote team, it's important for us to create an intentional space for us to come together and connect as more than co-workers. We believe there's no better way to do that than in nature and Wilder Retreats helped us do just that.

We've worked with Wilder Retreats on over three retreats now and it's been the best experience ever. They have great locations in their pocket, work closely with you on budget and details, and are always a step ahead with planning. I don't know how we'd execute on our team offsites without them!

Wilder Retreats ran our firmwide offsite this year. It was clear we had a true partner in Wilder. From the earliest planning chats through the final goodbye for the airport, our Wilder Retreats team was responsive, organized, and upbeat, so much so that our own staff who worked with them to plan could simply enjoy the retreat instead of juggling logistics. The result was a relaxed, engaging few days where people could focus on connecting with colleagues and re‑energizing for the year ahead. We came away feeling both cared for and confident that we’d choose Wilder Retreats again without hesitation!

ZION CORPORATE RETREAT

Frequently asked questions

What makes Zion National Park a good fit for a corporate retreat?

Zion puts some of the country’s most dramatic hiking a short walk from your hotel. Teams can start the day on a canyon trail, meet by late morning and share dinner in Springdale with the cliffs glowing at sunset. The scale of the place gets people talking in a way a conference center never does.

Should we stay at Cliffrose, Zion Mountain Ranch or AutoCamp Zion?

It depends on your group. Cliffrose Springdale has 53 rooms and gardens a few blocks from the park entrance, a strong fit for smaller leadership teams. Zion Mountain Ranch has 31 cabins and multi-bedroom lodges on the quieter east side of the park, about 3 miles from the East Entrance, with its own bison herd and a farm-to-table restaurant. AutoCamp Zion has 81 Airstreams, cabins and suites in Virgin, about 20 minutes from the park, with an indoor meeting room and plenty of outdoor space. We’ll recommend the best fit for your group size, goals and budget.

What is the best time of year for a retreat at Zion?

Spring (March through May) and fall (September through November) bring mild days and the best hiking weather. Summer highs often pass 100 degrees, and monsoon storms from July through September can close slot canyons like the Narrows. Winter is quiet and cool, with lower rates and fewer crowds.

How do we get to Zion National Park?

Most groups fly into Las Vegas (LAS), about 2.5 hours from Zion by car, or St. George Regional Airport (SGU), about an hour away. Salt Lake City (SLC) is about 4.5 hours away. Wilder coordinates group transfers from any of these airports.

Do we need permits or reservations for the park?

Some hikes require them. Angels Landing needs a permit through a lottery, and hiking the Narrows from the top down needs a wilderness permit. The main canyon road is shuttle-only for much of the year. Wilder handles permits, park entry and timing so your team doesn’t have to.

Can Zion host groups of more than 100 people?

Yes, with planning. Springdale’s hotels are small, so larger groups usually split lodging across two or three properties and meet together for sessions and meals. We plan the room blocks, shared meeting space and transfers so it feels like one retreat.

Is hiking the Narrows safe for a team?

Yes, with the right guide and timing. We hike the Narrows with experienced local guides, check flash flood forecasts before every trip and provide canyoneering shoes, poles and dry gear when the water is cold.

What other experiences can Wilder organize at Zion?

Beyond the featured experiences, teams can hike to Emerald Pools, ride e-bikes on the Pa’rus Trail, explore the quieter Kolob Canyons section of the park or take a day trip to Bryce Canyon, less than 2 hours away. Wilder builds the itinerary around your team’s interests and goals.

Are activities suitable for all fitness levels?

Yes. Hikes range from flat riverside walks to steep climbs, and we can offer an easier and a harder option on the same day. Dutch oven dinners and stargazing need no experience at all.

Can we hold meetings outdoors?

Yes. We use lawns, patios and riverside spaces for sessions when the weather allows, and time outside tends to spark better conversations than a windowless ballroom.

What ROI can companies expect from a Wilder retreat at Zion?

Wilder handles every logistical detail, saving internal teams an average of 100+ planning hours. We build each itinerary around your business goals, so the sessions, activities and downtime all support what you want your team to leave with.
