The Challenge

What Was Getting in the Way

Matcha is a fast growing food and beverage company with a largely remote team spread across multiple countries. As the company approached its 10 year anniversary, leadership wanted to celebrate the milestone in a way that reflected the culture they had built over the past decade not just with employees, but with the spouses and children who had supported them along the way.

The challenge was finding a destination that could accomplish all of those goals at once. Matcha wanted a warm, all-inclusive setting where work, celebration, and family time could naturally coexist, while also remaining accessible for a globally distributed team. Visa requirements for employees based in the Philippines eliminated many potential destinations, making the search about more than finding a beautiful resort it had to be a place where everyone could be included.

The Approach

What We Did Together

Together, Wilder and Matcha chose Shangri-La Yanuca Island in Fiji, a private-island resort that balanced the feeling of a once-in-a-decade celebration with the accessibility needed for an international team. The all-inclusive setting allowed employees, spouses, and children to share the experience while giving everyone the flexibility to participate in ways that felt natural.

The itinerary was designed to reflect the occasion. Cultural experiences, including a traditional Kava ceremony and village visit, introduced the team to Fiji beyond the resort, while waterfall hikes, rainforest swims, snorkeling, and lagoon exploration created opportunities for families and colleagues to experience the destination together. The retreat concluded with a sunset catamaran cruise and private beachfront dinner, a fitting way to celebrate ten years of growth while looking ahead to the next chapter.

Behind the scenes, Wilder managed destination selection, international logistics, and visa considerations, ensuring that a globally distributed team could gather in one place with as little friction as possible.
