The Challenge
What Was Getting in the Way
ProphetX is a fast-growing predictive sports markets company entering an exciting new phase of growth. As the team expanded, employees wanted more opportunities to connect in person, while leadership recognized the need to establish clearer goals, stronger communication, and more organizational structure across the company.
The timing made the opportunity even more meaningful. ProphetX had just earned its Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) certification, a major milestone that marked a new chapter for the business. Leadership wanted the company’s first-ever retreat to do more than celebrate the achievement, it needed to bring the team together and create a shared understanding of where the company was headed next.
The Approach
What We Did Together
Together, Wilder and ProphetX chose Asheville, North Carolina, a destination that delivered the right balance of outdoor adventure, and spaces for meaningful collaboration. The retreat was intentionally structured with focused morning meetings followed by afternoons designed to encourage conversation and connection outside the conference room.
Employees explored Asheville together through a guided hike, a local brewery experience, and group dinners that gave the team opportunities to build relationships beyond their day-to-day work. Lawn games, team photos, and informal gatherings helped make the company’s first retreat feel both productive and celebratory.
When unexpected challenges arose, including flight disruptions and weather that canceled the planned tubing excursion, Wilder quickly adapted the itinerary with alternative experiences, allowing the retreat to continue without losing momentum.
The Outcome
What Changed
By the end of the retreat, ProphetX had accomplished far more than celebrating a company milestone. Employees who had been asking for more opportunities to connect finally had the chance to build relationships face to face, while leadership established clearer expectations and goals for the company’s next stage of growth.
